SEO
Simply put search engine optimization, or SEO as it is more commonly referred to, consists of various techniques in which the goal is to improve the "natural" or "organic" ranking of a Web site in search engine results.
Because the Internet is a dynamic ever-changing environment, Web sites should be regularly optimized for keywords that are used by Internet users in numerous search engines.
Optimization can include the incorporation of high ranking keywords within the tags and body of a Web site, content additions, link building
and various other elements.

Search Engine Marketing
SEM, or search engine marketing, is synonmymous with paid advertising on Internet search engines.
Almost all search engines show paid ads alongside search results, and the search query determines which ads are shown. Advertisers typically pay a fee each time someone clicks on their ad, hence the term "Pay-Per-Click".
With display, or banner advertising, advertisers pay for the number of impressions an ad receives. The International standard for display advertising is measured in the cost per 1,000 impressions, or CPM.
